Data Driven Subscriptions unavailable, please help

I'm running sql2000 Standard with SP4 applied. I also have Reporting Services 2000 with service packs running on the same machine. I'm trying to get a data-driven subscription, but the button to access is unavailable.

I've assigned the account I'm working under the Publisher role and have modified this role to have all permissions (including managing subscriptions). I have stored credentials with my data source as well.

I can create a standard subscription with no problems, but just don't get the button to do the data-driven option.

Any assistance is appreciated.

You are running RS 2000 Standard Edition. Data driven subscriptions are only available on Enterprise Edition and Developer Edition.

Data Driven Subscription

I have a report. I want to schedule report to be generated only if there is
missing data with Microsoft Reporting Service on daily basis. Only send email
when there is missing data.
What is Data Driven Subscription's purpose? Can I use it to realize the
functions I mentioned above.

output to a data -driven-subscription-list of subscribers.
It Does NOT mean that you can sent reports based on a table or field or when
a value in a table/field changes. That is not the purposes in this case.

Data Connection problems - Database not found

I resently purchased a Virtual Windows 2003 Standard Server and I installed
SQL 2000 with Service Pack 3 on it to make sure it was up to date. I can ftp
on this server and everthing but when it comes to making a Microsoft ODBC
connection from my local computer to the virtual server I am not able to hook
up with it I recive a server time out is there something someone can be
patience with me and help me with this problem.

Suppose 40 winform clients of SQL Server(SS) 2005 request the same data (select * from sometable).

Is there any proxy service in SS or all clients will be queueing/competing for the same answer?

Different winform clients are on different machines with different .NET frameworks generally without any knowledge about each other connecting to one central MS SQL Server db?

So, each winform client may cache data to avoid repeting the request to SQL Server... according to your link. Or it is done by ASP.NET/IIS (for webforms)

But the question is about caching by SQL Server, to avoid the server to service the same results to different WINFORM clients.

Since SQL Server 2005 is integrated with .NET, it is quite logical to expect such proxy service from SQL Server or .NET framework whith which MSS2005 is integrated with, isn't it?

Is it available by MS SQL Server 2005? how it is called? or I should create it?

you might want to create a 'view' or an 'indexed view'

if the query is not parameterized or a stored procedure if it is parameterized

if you're into a very fast performance i'll recommend index view though you

will be penalized for disk space.

if its is a stored procedure execution is cached not the the result .

the link i gave you was caching the data by having winforms to consume

a webservice which stores the cached dataset

if ASP.NET server data webcontrols permit declarative specification for caching data (on server side), I do not see why winforms controls have not the ability to do the same, say, through one of MS SQL Server2005 configurable and built.in (web)sevice...

In my question I really wanted to ask whether the MSSSdb engine needs to compute/execute data according query again (even according to compiled/cached plan) and whether it repeats I/O operations in order to to get the same data structures.

This is rather important to know in order to make decisions on where to customly cache (on server or client), when, for how long and how much data.

Reporting Services has cached reports.
Really(and obviously) there are data buffers in memory. Also one can explicitly place data structures into memory [1]

When I run my application on windows 2000 everything is ok. But on XP service pack 2 and windows 2003 words in report cut at the end of the line. Words a written in cyrillic alphabet. Does anybody meet this problem?Set Can Grow option for that field

Customizing Toolbar in Reporting Service

I use SSRS 2005; i have a report with Drill down feature, connecting to another report. when i preview the report in the VS2005; i get a backup button in the RS toolbar to move from the second report to the main report after the drill down.

but once i deploy it on the server and when the user views the report on the web i dont get to see the BACK button.

Is it possible to do so?

There is no back button on the web-based toolbar. We thought that people would get confused with having a back button in the browser along with one on the toolbar. The back button on the browser will generally work except it will include other actions like toggles and sorts.|||

Does any body know how we can customize the behavior of Microsoft
Indexing Service (i.e. Infosoft.dll).
I have the following case:
I am currently in the process of adding full linguistic support to a an
unsupported MS-Search language.
I need to index certain characters in a neutralized manner.
Example: I need to index the letters A,B, and C always as the letter A
so that when the user wants to search for the word ABZ for example, I
will neutralize B->A before passing it to the word to MS-Search
(Therefore teh word AAZ will be passed instead to MS-Search). This way I
gurantee that MS-Search will fetch all occurences of: ABZ, BBZ, CCZ, ACZ
... etc because this is how they are actually stored in the database.
In other words, I need a way to hook or manipulate teh Infosoft.dll word
breaker and stemmer for my own needs or replace it with my own.
I hope you got the idea.
I tried to search the MSDN site for hints or samples on how to do that
but found nothing.

Actually, infosoft.dll is the "Wordbreaker and stemmer dll" taken from the
file description of the actual dll file and the "Indexing Service"
executable is cisvc.exe. Furthermore, it does seem that your question is
more about the Indexing Service, so a better place to post question on it
would be microsoft.public.inetserver.indexserver.
Furthermore, since you want to add full linguistic support for an
unsupported MSSearch language, you might want to review the following white
paper: "How to Write a Filter for Use by SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and
Other Microsoft Search-Based Products" at

as it also includes "...Microsoft Indexing Service use filters to extract

The problem with these references is that they talk about code that has
to customized or written in C++. My background is native C and VB,VB.Net
I wonder if there is a way to customize these filter libraries by adding
them as .Net references in a VB.Net project. Then I can work with them
easily using their .Net class model?!

Unfortunately, the API's for writing word breakers and stemmers for a new &
unsupported MS-Search language (a non-trivial effort) must be done in C/C++
as these API's were developed well before managed .NET languages were
